How it works
- Set up your group. Rotating, savings or grocery. Add members with their cellphone numbers. It takes two minutes.
- Record payments. Tap a member, type the amount, done. Cash, EFT or card.
- Everyone sees their statement. Each member gets a private WhatsApp link showing what they paid, what they owe, and when their payout is.
Why groups trust it
- We never hold your money. Your group keeps its own bank account. Stokkie only keeps the records.
- Every change is recorded, with who made it and when. Deleted entries stay, crossed out.
- Members don't need an app. Their statement opens from a link, on any phone.
- Reminders come from your own WhatsApp, so they cost nothing and come from someone members know.
Price
R50 a month for the whole group, or R500 a year. As many members as you like. Try everything free for 30 days first, no card needed.
R50 shared by 20 members is R2.50 each. Running more than one stokvel? Each group is R50. Members never pay to see their statement.
Does Stokkie hold or move our money?
No. Stokkie is a record book. Members pay into the group's own bank account or give cash to the treasurer, as they do now.
Can the treasurer change a payment in secret?
No. Every change is saved with the name of the person who made it and the time. Members can see the changes to their own record.
Do members need to install anything?
No. Only the treasurer or chairperson logs in. Members open their statement from a WhatsApp link.
What happens after the free 30 days?
The group pays R50 a month or R500 a year to keep recording. If it doesn't, nothing is deleted: the treasurer can still see everything and members can still open their statements.
What kinds of stokvel does it support?
Rotating (umgalelo), savings stokvels with a year-end payout, and grocery stokvels. Burial societies are coming.
